What we do in class
Yin yoga is a calm and passive yoga practice. Poses are held for anywhere between 1-5 minutes targeting the connective tissues in our bodies and resulting in an improved range of motion and in our joints and overall stretched soft tissues.
Body Rolling is a simple but highly effective self-massage method.
Where body rolling targets the ubiquitous fascial network, Yin yoga additionally focuses on the main meridian lines. Both modalities compliment each other allowing you to achieve a more balanced body and to release physical & emotional tension.
We use the grippy and pliable Yoga Tune Up balls in various sizes to help us get rid of adhesions in our myofascia (muscles & fascia). Through simple yet detailed instruction we go over the anatomy and you will apply multiple rolling techniques on your body. Each week we will focus on a different area.
The class consists of roughly 70% rolling and 30% Yin yoga.
How we practice mindfulness
Mindfulness is the practice of focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. We always encourage you to be mindful and Body Rolling gives you an excellent opportunity to listen to your body’s signals. The main emphasis is to never aggravate an already sore area, but to release tension, be it physical or emotional.
